This course is designed to provide engineers with a thorough understanding of how to efficiently maintain and improve motor and drive systems by outlining the differences between a systems approach and a components approach. This course details the content of the sourcebook for Improving Motor & Drive Systems, which was authored and developed by the United States Department of Energy. Part 2 of the course reviews several key performance opportunities including steps to assessing current operating conditions, collecting operating data, establishing a proactive motor management program and providing basic maintenance. The final section of the course reviews how to conduct an LCC analysis and calculate annual electricity costs, to aid in proposal development.
